As a MDS educator our primary focus has been on providing advanced MDS 3.0 training courses to individuals who are already MDS coordinators. Advanced MDS training helps MDS coordinators who are working in the field increase their patient documentation abilities which in turn drastically helps both the patient and the facility. A greater understanding of MDS 3.0 is extremely vital to the success of long-term care facilities. With this being said, our advanced training is not for individuals who are interested in becoming MDS coordinators as the curriculum does not focus on beginner information. That is why we are now offering our MDS 3.0 Certification Training Course that teaches the fundamentals of MDS.
Our new MDS 3.0 Certification Training Course focuses on the fundamental curriculum of MDS–exactly what you need to know to become a coordinator in the field. This course is shorter than our advanced MDS training course, just 16 hours in comparison to 32. It is also less costly at $475.
Program objectives include:
-Understanding the principles of MDS 3.0
-MDS 3.0 Coding
-Patient assessment training
-PPS/Medicare timing and scheduling
-Job responsibility training
-Medicare billing classification system
-Tools to get started in the field
-Certification upon successful completion
So while this course might not be as intensive as our advanced training, it still covers the fundamental principles of MDS 3.0 and will also give nurses great insight as to what they can expect working in the field as a coordinator. This certification training course should open the door to many individuals who are looking to make a career advancement or transition into MDS.
